A strategic approach to corporate virtual collaboration

“'If you build it, they will come' does not apply to virtual collaboration. Employees need to know about it, how to use it, when to use it, and see it as a benefit.”
--David Kaufman, Managing Partner
Very few companies put in place a centralized strategy to properly initiate corporate virtual collaboration (CvC) projects or integrate next generation collaborative tools into their organization. As such they are less able to integrate the technology in a way that generates a positive ROI either from a cost or employee benefit perspective.

To begin with, companies need to determine why they want or need virtual collaboration tools. Is it to:

  • Reduce travel costs?

  • Reduce office space costs?

  • Contribute to a positive work/life balance for their employees?

  • Strengthen relationships with their employees?

  • Strengthen relationships with their customers?

  • Drive more revenue to the company?

  • A CvC strategy answers these questions and identifies the right blend of technologies necessary to make CvC an effective tool for an organization. A strong strategy also leads companies to the right solutions and deploys them effectively, addressing the different kinds of work and unique needs of employees across the organization.

Acquis offers a structured approach to driving an organization through the stages of a CvC strategy, ensuring all possible benefits are realized.
Our Approach

We view every one of our engagements as a partnership built on a strong foundation from the very start. We seek to understand first, so your challenges become our challenges, and in turn, opportunities for resolution.

We keep execution in view while helping you create strategies and design solutions. We think about sustainable solutions that fit your needs. We work with you to create the clear path to success. We continue to listen, but objectively challenge priorities and identify risks.

We roll up our sleeves to do the work. We help you establish the right pace and rhythm, while continually tracking and measuring status and progress. We will know when your team needs to adjust to changing business conditions.

We do more than deliver success. In transferring ownership of the solution, we work to elevate and empower your organization with a capacity and ambition for continuous improvement.

We put you and your people first. This is our approach.

The Business Technology division of a major pharmaceutical organization needed a more effective work environment that would enable colleagues to work remotely, collaboratively, and improve their quality of life. With existing technology and facilities infrastructure not designed to support collaboration or the needs of a mobile workforce, the client needed to develop a formal business case around remote work enablement and facilities redesign.
Approach: Think + Do
We collaborated with multiple business units, including Facilities, Business Technology, and Human Resources, to understand the current state issues, define future state goals and objectives, and detail an approach to change that factored in technology, facilities, policy, and change management impacts.
Our business case illustrated the value in a two-fold approach: technology advances to allow for remote work enablement combined with the design and implementation of flexible workspaces to drive team performance. The Business Technology group became recognized by Global Operations as early innovators and thought leaders in alternative workspace concepts and strategies––they will partner to implement the emerging strategy for facilities and workspaces.
